Yah, that’s right, we’re talking feminism. This 8-letter word means a lot of things to a lot of different people. At this Salon, we are interested in exploring our understandings of feminism and how we politicize and personalize the term in our own lives. A seemingly elusive concept to pin down, we hope to create an honest and inclusive space for discussing the present day relevance of feminism.
What does feminism mean to you? Do you identify as a feminist? In which ways do you feel compelled to respond “YES!”, and where does your hesitation sit? Do you feel that feminism is relevant in today’s world?
We realize that this sort of discussion can be uncomfortable in a whole bunch of different and sometimes difficult ways. Whether you feel you’ve got a lot to say on the subject, or if your curiosity is simply piqued, we encourage you to show up for the conversation. All that will be asked of you is an open mind to dialogue, and an open heart to diverse and fluid ways of making meaning in this world.
We invite EVERYONE of all shapes, genders, and associations to come on out!
Amy Soberano and Marni Wolf will be our fabulous facilitators.
